Bernadette Ann Potter-Torhan, of Santa Clarita, CA, passed away due to health complications on November 24, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends at the time of her passing.
Bernadette spent her life in service to others. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, thoughtful concern for others, and humble respect for everyone who crossed her path. She believed in the elimination of all forms of prejudice and worked in support of efforts to bring about unity. Bernadette had a deep passion for the welfare of children and youth. As a teacher and elementary school principal she was known for her sincere commitment to helping children develop to their fullest potential. This passion carried over into her service within her Faith community. As a member of the Baha’i Faith, Bernadette devoted much of her time and resources to assisting with the spiritual education of children promoting the development of virtues such as kindness, compassion, truthfulness, and justice.
Bernadette was an avid reader and almost always had a book within reach. She enjoyed reading for pleasure and also felt a responsibility to stay informed and up to date on the affairs of the world.
Bernadette is survived by her brother, three children, four grandchildren and countless friends who think of her as family.
Services will limited to family and close friends and will be held at Eternal Valley Memorial Park in Santa Clarita on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 10 AM. A celebration of her life will take place after the New Year.
