Carmen Nelly Opegez

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our beautiful Mother, Carmen Opegez.  She died with her two daughters, Diane and Liz by her side the morning of Sunday, June 25, 2023.  Although blindsided by the return of this vicious disease, Mom fought her cancer strong and hard.

Carmen was born in Peru and adored her parents, Felix Garcia and Mercedes Garcia.  After graduating school, Carmen decided to move to the United States to pursue new adventures.  While living in California, she found the love her of life, Michael Opegez.  She married him and they had two daughters.  Several years later, her husband passed away and she raised her two young daughters on her own. She worked in Human Resources, Outplacement services, and leadership coaching for over 20 years and loved helping people.

Carmen had an adventurous young spirit, loved traveling the world, discovering new cultures and experiences!  

Most of all, her family was always her top priority and she loved having family gatherings.  She was always the life of the party sharing her humorous spirit and traveling adventures with everyone.

We were blessed to have such an amazing role model who had a passion to live life to the fullest. We will forever miss her and will cherish her in our hearts every day!
